Angel Unaware
I passed a young lady late one night
Down at the neighborhood mall
Her clothes were torn and tattered
Not much more than rags at all
I thought I’d go on my way
With my purchases in my arms
Her sad eyes touched my heart
So I stopped and touched her arm
Can I help you I ask with
A faint forced smile
She said if only a little milk
I have a month old child

I hadn’t noticed laying there
Was a bundle where she stood
It was a tiny baby boy
Whimpering for a change and food
My heart did break and I thought
I had almost passed her by
How often do I do these things
And maybe someone is left to die

I quickly told her to wait on me
Into the store I did race
I couldn’t forget the sadden look
On the young girls face
I got formula and diapers and
Hurried to where they were found
No one or nothing was at this place
I couldn't hear a sound

Yes they were gone I was so sorry
So I asked a elderly man
Have you seen a girl and a
Baby with eyes that look so sad
What he began to tell me
Chilled me to the bone
There were no girl or baby but
You wasn’t here alone

They were both angels that the
Lord sent for you to take a test
To see if you would help them
When they needed rest
You almost failed but then
It became so plain to see
Inside your heart is gold
I'm sure the Master's pleased
