Son

Where did my little boy go
The one I hold in my heart so dear
I said I would always hold his hand
I'd be a leanpost so he could stand

The one with the cars that ran through the dirt
The one that I could kiss away all hurt
With freckled checks and a precious grin
O Lord I'm thinking of him again

The one I nursed through fevered nights
The one that held his Mommy tight
Then I'd pray away all his fears
My mind goes back to precious years

Where did my little boy go
The one that loved his Mommy so
Oh, what I'd give to have again
But my little boy has become a man
