My Lifetime Companion

It's nearly time for me to bake
Another birthday cake for you
Blowing candles, making wishes
And hoping they all come true

But what it really means is
You've been Blessed another year
With health, strength,mind
And all that you hold dear

As I think back through the years
Forty Seven, you've now seen
We've been together twenty four
THe good years and the lean

Sometimes I wonder how we made it
When things got really bad
But then I only try to think
Of all the fun we've had

Somehow we kept hanging on
Through all the toil and strife
For God just don't make mistakes
And He joined us for life

Yes, God has really Blessed you
But I am sure you know
Always keep Him in your heart
Where ever you may go

I guess I am just not to good
Expressing how I feel
But the love I have deep in my heart
For you is very real

For what time we both have
Down here on earth below
I want to share each moment
With the one that I love so

With the children grown and they have gone
Down their own life's road
We can only pray they'll live for God
From the tiny seeds we've sown

SO once more, it's just you and me
The way it first began
I want to be here for you
Until we reach the end

If God should call you home
Before it is my time
Wait patiently for me my love
I'll follow close behind

But if it's me to reach Home first
Try not to grieve or cry
For we will be together again
Some day by and by

All our worries will be behind us
Our tears will be no more
We'll always be together then
A million years and more

With that thought I'll say Goodnight
And I love you once again
You're a Precious part of my Life
I'd do it all again
