Missing You
A Year has now gone by
Since we said Goodbye to you
Altho our hearts were breaking
There was nothing we could do
I think of you, so long ago
When in my arms you laid
All the stories that we shared,
And of all the games we played
I was standing by your bedside,
when the death angel came
With precious peace you welcomed it
God must have spoke your name
He must have said "It's over now"
No more suffering, no more pain
No, more hospitals, no needles
No, you'll never hurt again
Whatever it was God whispered
It was only for you to understand
By the beautiful smile of peace you had
I knew He was holding your hand
You told me that you loved me
And I'll hold that in my heart
Altho I knew the time had come
That for a while, we must part
But not for long, this separation
For soon I'll come to you
When my work on earth is over and
My labors are all through
We'll have a grand reunion
With other loved ones too
There's an empty space within my heart
I'll always hold for you.
But this time of year saddens me
With no birthday party to plan
I'll place a rose on your grave
And try to understand.
