~*God's Church*~

Nestled on a hillside
Upon it's own little knoll
Songs were sung to touch your heart
And Bless your very soul

There were no quarrels or pouting
Who sat upon which pew you see
All were exactly the same
Hewed from a white oak tree

It was the one they called "God's Church"
The way it was meant to be
Fellowship with the congregations
And spirits were set free

They would stand and get a book
A United Baptist song to sing
Some songs were ten verses or more
Oh how the hills would ring

You could see Sisters begin to shout
And the brother's yell AMEN
It felt as though Jesus was right there
And you could almost see Him

Old fashion God fearing people
So humble and honest back then
The Lord hovered near that church
You felt the need to go again

Praise the Lord O my soul
Of these teachings given me
I learned them all at "God's Church"
As I wish all churches could be

Just one time at "God's Church"
You would feel your spirit soar
That little church house in the woods
That Jesus Hovers o'er
