What Happy Christmas’ that’s in my memory
My Grandpa would go out in search of a tree
He’s go up on a hill that was nearby
We’d make the decorations with a star to hang up high
We’d get oranges and apples and grapes, what a treat
We had candy a plenty, all we could eat
Granny would make stack cakes and gingerbread too
She’s fry a few chickens before she was through
We’d all gather round the fireplace so bright
And talk about things on that first Christmas night
We had love and laughter I still hold so dear
I always remember, come this time of year
We made Christmas cards with construction paper
We abided each day with respect for our neighbor
We made paper chains to hang on the tree
But yet it looked like a beauty to me
Children today just don’t have a clue
What it means to appreciate what’s given to you
They have so much bought all through the year
When Christmas comes, they hold nothing dear
Video games and the latest DVD"s
Is not my idea of Christmas you see
I want decorations of the Christ Child all nigh
And talk of a Savior that’s always close by
I want peace on earth and goodwill toward men
For we don’t really know when He’s coming again
AS I’m reminiscing I see difference now and then
Of the Old fashion Christmas I enjoyed back when
